"Putting a hand up and stopping
the machine" - Robert Hunter, Greenpeace co-founder.
What is the best weapon for defending the environment?
In 1971 a small group of dedicated individuals used
a camera to show images that the rest of the world could
not access. Bearing witness to nuclear testing and the
slaughter of whales, this peripheral group, made up
of people from all walks of life, formed Greenpeace
and actively sought out ways to bring the machine of
ecological destruction to a halt.
With interviews of its charismatic
founders, Greenpeace: Made In Canada tells the
story of a fringe group's climb to international influence,
reaching across generations and boundaries, and mobilizing
people who wanted to "just say no" and make
it work.
